Toilet Won’t Flush/Clogged
Clogged toilets are one of the most common problems people have with their toilet. It could be for a number of reasons: you used too much toilet paper, you flushed something that shouldn’t be flushed, the water pressure is to low, etc. Here are four methods you can choose from in order to unclog the toilet yourself. If you try all of them and nothing helps, it’s best to call a Chico plumber.

Toilet is Slow Filling
If your toilet isn’t filling up like it’s supposed to, then flushing it can be problematic. This can be caused by multiple things like a partially open valve, clogged tubes, or low water pressure. See if one of these problems is what you are experiencing by using these troubleshooting tips.
Toilet is Leaky
A leaky toilet is never good. The downside is that the leak can be caused by a number of different reasons and it’s only a simple fix if you can figure out where the leak is coming from. This Old House created a great guide showing what each part in a toilet is called and how it might be the cause of your leak. If you still can’t find the leak then you’ll at least be able to speak toilet, which can be helpful when you call a Chico plumber.
Toilet is Noisy/Runs Constantly
There are several different issues that could be occurring that will cause your toilet to be noisy or to run constantly. The easiest reason, and the simplest fix, is that the flapper might not be making contact with the hole that allows water to fill up in the bowl. You can fix this by taking the top off the back of the toilet and seeing if the flapper is covering the hole or if there is a gap. If there’s a gap, you can lift and release the chain making the flapper have full contact with the hole (i.e. covering the hole). If that doesn’t work, then you may need to replace the flapper. If you lift the top off the back of the toilet and see that the flapper is making full contact then check to see if it is any of these other issues are making your toilet noisy.
Toilet Handle is Stuck or Loose
One of the last common problems is a stuck or loose handle. Both are fairly easy to fix, here are instructions for a stuck handle and a loose handle.
If you have one of these problems and you try your best to fix it yourself but the problem is still there, then don’t hesitate to call a Chico plumber from Experts in Your Home today! There is no shame in wanting your toilet fixed right the first time.
