Honey Run Custom Home Build

Our Experts team built a new custom home in the Honey Run area of south Chico. The owner lost his previous home during the Camp Fire, and we're honored to have had the opportunity to build him a brand new home on the same lot.

We met this client in the summer of 2021, and helped him get the project going after he had experienced frustration with finding a contractor willing to do the job or even return a phone call. While there were delays due to a slow governmental approval process and supply chain issues, our team took the lead on moving things forward, and completed construction.

We're excited to see this home finished and the owner back on the land he loves. Check out the photos of the construction process and the amazing finished result below. 

According to the owner:

"My wife and I moved back to our property in December 2019 after the fire burned down the house and most of the trees. Our goal was to stay in a trailer on our land and supervise the rebuild of the home while reconnecting with the creek and wildlife of Butte Canyon. Most contractors were busy and didn't have time to discuss our new home. Other contractors who expressed an interest in our project got involved with the complexities of building their own homes, and forgot to return calls. 

Finally, I thought of the Hignell name after knowing some of the family members, and I reached out to Experts. From the beginning, the communication was excellent with Tom Dowdy taking over as project manager after Shane Struble made initial contact. The workers and subcontractors have been, to the person, polite, respectful and passionate about their work. I find myself enjoying conversation with them too.

The work has proceeded slowly, but with the pandemic and supply chain issues and a dearth of workers, the progress is as expected. We're very happy with Experts in Your Home. They really try to make the stressful construction process transparent and palatable. Things are fixed rapidly and with a congenial attitude. We would employ them again for our next project."
